Generic Personality Statement Instead Of Alignment
This week I wanted to talk bayou the things I talk about my version of alignment in TTRPGS. I think that Alignment from Dungeons and Dragons is generally limited. I prefer something that actually describes what your character does!
GENERIC PERSONALITY STATEMENT & GOALS
This game gives players descriptive alignment. Their alignment describes your character's actions, it does not prescribe them. That is to say, and RM should not force a player to justify their actions based on their alignment. It simply gives a general framework, to help players think about how they should roleplay their characters. The evil – good ratio is for RM controlled NPCs only, as no player is inherently good or evil.
selfish – neutral – altruistic – outlook on society
chaotic – neutral – Code – outlook on moral compass
evil – neutral – good – quick guide for RMs
These are then used to determine if players in my RPG has corruption or fate points (more on that in a future blog post).
Give the creature a Goal or two and what it will do if the RWs do not stop it, over a short timeline of events.
Think about the following for your character:
Where are you from?
What purpose does your character fit? – archetype should not be just a stereotype differentiate yourself with role, what is your personality like?
Now add their:
Personality
Flaw
Look
Bond (another Riftwalker)
And that is all a character needs!
