Salt of The Earth - Documentary Score

Recently, I had the pleasure of composing the score for a short film. Salt of The Earth tells the story of Peter Brinkworth, the man who invented Chicken Salt! Excellent work and congratulations to directors Jacob Richardson and Thomas Van Kalken, you are both a pleasure to work with. The film premiered in the Adelaide Film Festival 2022, and received an honourable mention at the Reale Film Festival in Milan 2022, and will show as a part of the Short and Sweet Festival in Brisbane 2022 (tickets available soon). I had a blast writing the score with a mixture of traditional and experimental strings focus. It was mostly done with samples from the Korg Wavestate synthesizer that was then edited in post. The work was a fun challenge, as these types of timbres aren’t ones I usually work with, but I really enjoyed pushing outside my comfort zone. The result has the Nervous Plaything flavour to the traditional sounds, with some digital aesthetics and pattern work inlaid. A special thanks goes to Erin Logan for her continued support and feedback of everything I do.
